Lodging for the 2008 MilBlog Conference
July 28, 2008 •
Blocks of rooms at various hotels in Las Vegas have been reserved for registrants of Blog World Expo. The rates below will only be good until August 18, so it's best to make your reservations sooner rather than later.
We haven't designated an official "milblog" hotel. That's a bit difficult to do this year since the event isn't taking place at a hotel, as was the case last year. Plus, everyone is working off of a different budget. But, an informal survey seems to indicate that many milbloggers are staying at the Marriott Courtyard, or the Sahara. If you'd like to try to stay together as a group, please leave your lodging suggestions in the comment section. I'm receiving a lot of email asking where most people are planning to stay, so your feedback would be helpful.
We will be having a meet-up or two as a group over the weekend. For those who are interested, we'll publicize that information closer to conference time, so just stay tuned.
If you're interested in easy transportation to/from the Expo, look for a hotel that is close to a monorail stop. Map can be found here. The monorail has a stop at the Las Vegas Convention Center, site of the BWE.

Thanks Andi,
The wife and I will be staying at the Sahara. Arriving on Thursday and grabbing a show of some sort, we haven't decided yet on anyone in particular. Hoping for maybe a group dinner on Friday evening.
Anyone that wants to help coordinate this with us can contact me at http://thunderrun.blogspot.com/

Also, if you're military, go to the ITT office on base and see if you can get a voucher for Arizona Charlies, they're offering military huge discounts. $32 weekdays and 52 for weekends, no kidding, 4 miles away.

Quick hotel update for everyone. The Hilton, and the Marriot are filling up so if you are planning to stay there get your rooms fast.
The Sarah has the least expensive rooms in our block and is also very close to the convention center (2 stops on the monorail). They have plenty of rooms left right now.
Important note for the Sahara. When you check in you want to request the Tangiers Tower.
Those rooms are recently renovated and nicer than the other tower.

A Friday night gathering would be great.
